Corbin Bleu as Chad Danforth

Chad Danforth of Disney's High School Musical is portrayed by Corbin Bleu. Part of East High's basketball team, Chad is team captain Troy Bolton's best friend. The two were close since they were kids, and grew up to be friends with teammates Jason Cross and Zeke Baylor.

During the first movie, Chad seemed to be a bit snobby, selfish, and a little bit too into the basketball game. When he noticed that his best friend, Troy was becoming a bit distracted because of the new girl, Gabriella, he teamed up with Scholastic Decathlon club leader Taylor McKessie to pull them apart. This led to a conflict between Troy and Gabriella, who suffered the effects of their friends' schemes. Upon seeing how much Troy and Gabriella cared for each other, Chad and Taylor again teamed up to bring them back together and at the same time, thwart Sharpay's plans of stealing a chance at the lead roles of the school play from Gabriella and Troy. They succeeded in bringing Troy and Gabriella to the callbacks, in which they performed well, much to Sharpay's chagrin. In the end, Chad asked Taylor out and the two started dating.

In the second film, Chad got a job at Lava Springs to save up for a car. He did this to further impress Taylor, however, he found that he was having a hard time at his job because of the manager, Mr. Fulton's pressure. Furthermore, Troy instantaneously got promoted due to Sharpay's meddling with management. Chad became jealous and their friendship encountered rocky ground. They finally confronted each other and Troy realized that he was being manipulated by Sharpay. Troy apologized to Chad and the rest of his friends, and he was soon forgiven. In addition, Chad also became close friends with Ryan Evans, who helped Chad and his friends choreograph their talent show number. The two played an interesting baseball game wherein Ryan convinced Chad to dance, but Chad insisted that “I don’t dance.”
