With the huge success of the first
High School Musical movies, and a third set to hit the big screen, one might think that the cast has developed egos or take their fame for granted. Not so, says the cast. “We really are all friends,” said
Lucas Grabeel in a recent interview. The cast of
High School Musical 3 took ABC News behind the scenes as they rehearsed and filmed their scenes and songs. They dished on the plot, the costumes, the rehearsals, and what makes the third movie so much better than the first two!
“Some of our numbers are enormous,” said director and choreographer Kenny Ortega of
HSM3. “They really are reminiscent of the musicals of yester year. We’ve got a number that happens in the cafeteria that has about 500 kids in it. So, in that respect, we’re bigger and we’re better.”
The movie will feature the gang’s senior year at East High, complete with prom, graduation, and college decisions. “We have a prom scene,”
Zac Efron told ABC news correspondent, Chris Connelly. “It’s actually a play that we’re putting on about a prom.”
Ashley Tisdale dished on the dress that she’ll be wearing in the film, saying, “It’s feathery, it’s pink, it’s rhinestone, it’s fun. It’s really cool.”
Corbin Bleu also was happy with his prom costume, which had the last name of his character, Chad Danforth, on the back as well as his basketball number.
High School Musical 3 will feature 14 musical numbers in all and the cast has been rehearsing non stop to get them just right. “I think my feet grew a full shoe size yesterday,”
Monique Coleman joked. “That’s how swollen they are but it’s worth it!” The movie also marks the first time that best friends Troy and Chad will sing together. Ryan and Sharpay will sing a song in the school’s cafeteria. The opening number for the movie will take place in the East High gym. Shooting for
High School Musical 3 wraps in late June and the movie hits theaters this fall.
