Tonight’s episode of
High School Musical: Summer Session features the west coast semi-finals and final audition rounds. Their first taken, upon arriving for their callback, is to perform a dance routine for the faculty members. Host Nick Lachey pays the competitors a visit to offer some words of wisdom and his moral support. Afterwards, they practiced their solos, which they would do individually in front of the judges. Their song had to be from a
High School Musical movie and only 10 would move on to the finals to perform in pairs. The pressure was certainly on for these young performers!
Christie Brooke decides to sing “What I’ve Been Looking For” but the judges found her performance to be a little insincere. Christina Brown performs “Gotta Go My Own Way” and tries to translate her performing style from the small venues she’s used to, to a giant stage. Ether Saure may not be able to articulate himself well in front of the judges but he does well when he begins singing “What I’ve Been Looking For”. Blair Perkins shows that he has more than just personality when he belts out “Bop To The Top”.
After they’re done, Jen goes to grab 10 contestants to head upstairs. They are: Stan, Shayna, Ether, Christina, Madison, Britney, Christie, TJ, Sean, and Lauren. They are the ones who will be heading to the final audition round and they are immediately put into pairs. The pairs are: Stan and Christina, Shayna and TJ, Sean and Britney, Ether and Lauren, and Madison and Christie. Jen heads back to the green room to deliver the bad news to the rest of the contestants that they have been eliminated.
At California Adventure, the performers take the stage. Shayna and TJ are up first with Keith Urban’s “You’ll Think of Me” followed by Ether and Lauren with their rendition of “Hold My Hand” by Hootie and the Blowfish. After that, Madison and Christie teams up for a girly duet with “Vacation” by The Go-Gos. Sean and Britney team up for Eve6’s “Inside Out” and last to hit the stage are Christina and Stan with Michael Buble’s “Everything”.
The finalists are sent back to their hotel rooms, where they wait for Nick Lachey to deliver the good (and bad) news. The 6 to make it through are: TJ, Christie, Stan, Shayna, Ether, and Christina.
