High School Musical: Get In The Picture - Episode 1 Recap
On tonight's season premiere of High School Musical: Get In The Picture, thousands upon thousands of younger singers and dancers showed up in Orlando, Florida for a massive open casting call. First, host Nick Lachey met with the 6 faculty members to find out what they were looking for. The experts wanted to see things like determination, spunk, spirit, and heart. In true American Idol fashion, High School Musical: Get In The Picture didn't just give us the best auditions. They gave us the good, the bad, and the ugly. However, there were no Simon Cowells on this panel of judges. They gave constructive criticism, were very encouraging, and put a positive spin on things when speaking to the young hopefuls.

The faculty members weren't just satisfied with hosting two open casting calls. They traveled nationwide to meet kids who had been nominated for the show. If they saw what they liked, they immediately moved them to the semi-final round. If they didn’t feel that a specific candidate was ready, they just up and left, with the person never knowing that they were this close to being a part of High School Musical history.  These unsuspecting young adults were nominated by everyone from their parents to their teachers to their friends.

In Orlando, the judges were not easy on the candidates. They sent one person after another home for a variety of reasons. They felt people needed more confidence, needed to sell their songs more, and needed to get some vocal training. In the end, a good amount of people auditioning managed to make it through to the semi-finals. Through the rejections and the screams of joy, Nick Lachey was there by their sides and did a great job as the host of the show.

Tomorrow night, the lucky ones who made it through will have to work even harder to make it through the semi-final round.  They'll not only have to sing in front of the judges but dance as well, too.  It's time for them to prove that they've got the total package and are worthy of appearing in High School Musical 3.
