Paula Abdul


American television figure Paula Abdul was born on June 19, 1962 in San Fernando, California. She is an Emmy Award-winning choreographer and multi-platinum singer, and is also famed for being a judge on the hit series American Idol. Raised by Jewish parents, her earliest inspirations were entertainers such as Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire, along with the film Singin’ in the Rain. From a childhood of training in dance lessons and cheerleading, she later went on to head the cheerleading squad of the Los Angeles Lakers NBA team, acting as chief choreographer. Paula Abdul has also choreographed music videos for the likes of Janet Jackson, Duran Duran, Prince, George Michael, and Dolly Parton.

Hey Paula is the Bravo network’s new reality television series starring Paula Abdul. It follows the award-winning choreographer’s professional and personal life as she gets ready to judge another season of American Idol, while also working on the Bratz movie and her own line of cosmetics and perfumes. The show also features other people in Abdul’s life, such as her best friend and hairstylist Daniel, her longtime publicist Jeff, and her wardrobe assistant Kiley. The show’s episodes so far have shown her appearing at events and meeting the press in New York, at a charity event for helping victims of Hurricane Katrina, and her preparations for American Idol.
