Heroes is quickly becoming The Petrelli Show, with Peter, Nathan, Arthur and Angela dominating the majority of the storylines and screentime. This Monday's episode, “It's Coming,” looks like more of the same, as the Petrellis struggle with defining their roles. At this point, deciding whether you still like
Heroes is based largely on whether you think Peter and Nathan are the most interesting characters.
The previews for this week's episode show all the Petrelli men on their own paths. Peter, now powerless, is on the run from his dad and trying to get Claire to do the same thing as Knox and Flint are sent after them. Nathan finally gets his turn to meet his father for the first time since his death, and Arthur is busy figuring out the final details of the Formula.
If you're like me, you're confused about Arthur's endgame. He claims that he wants to use the Formula to give people powers to save the world. What does one have to do with the other? I have no idea. We've seen a dystopian future where heroes are hunted down, but by shooting Nathan, Future Peter stopped that. We saw Sylar explode Costa Verde, but how does the Formula stop that? And where does Ando killing Hiro come into play?
Season 1 of
Heroes had a simple premise, as the heroes tried to stop an exploding man from destroying New York City. Season 2 was slightly more convoluted, but the main goal was to stop the Virus from being leaked. Now we're in season 3, and I have no idea what they're trying to stop other than Arthur, who hasn't really indicated any definite plan to destroy anything. I know Arthur Petrelli is a villain because the show tells me so, but we're entering the ninth episode of 13-episode volume and I don't know what this arc is.
Below you can check out some video clips from the upcoming episode of
Heroes. They feature Peter and Claire on the run, Arthur and Mohinder finding the key to making the Formula successful, and the first meeting between Nathan and his father.
Heroes airs Mondays at 9pm on NBC.
