Ubisoft to Develop 'Heroes' Video Game
French game company Ubisoft has announced it is creating a multi-platform videogame based on NBC's mega hit Heroes.  The game company has grown in leaps and bounds thanks to many high profile licensing deals including an official game for ABC's Lost, which was previewed at this year's San Diego Comicon, and a score of other high profile licenses.

In addition to Heroes and Lost, Ubisoft has developed games for CSI, Peter Jackson's King Kong, and the Dukes of Hazzard.  Waiting in the wings is a multi-platform game based on James Cameron's upcoming epic Avatar, not related to the cartoon of the same name.

Lost fans were thrilled with the brief game trailer shown at Comicon that revealed actual game footage.  The next-gen renderings captured the look and feel of Lost's universe.  Lost's creators, Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof, assured fans that the actual game play successfully captured the shows aura of mystery and discovery.

Adapting Heroes to the video game world seems like a far less challenging task, although it remains to be seen if the game will seek to embody the character intensive plots of its television cousin, or shoot for the dynamic super powered action the show has been sorely lacking.  According to Ubisoft's Vice President of Licensing, Christial Salomon, the game may pursue both angles. “With a gripping storyline and rich characters, ‘Heroes' lends itself naturally to a video game format.  By offering people the chance to interact directly with the show's captivating universe, there is no doubt that the game will appeal to both fans of the series and avid gamers.” Salomon said.

As far as when to expect release, that seems to be tricky business.  The Lost game was shuffled around so much that at one-point rumors spread that the game had been ditched.  Now it appears that the game will be released during the first quarter of 2008, which is when Lost returns to the air.   The release of a Heroes game may follow similar timing, which could mean as late as September 2008, when Heroes would begin its third season.
