Sylar is getting a new dad on
Heroes. Now that we know Arthur Petrelli has lying about fathering the psychopath, TV Guide confirms that in the next volume, former
Smallville star
John Glover will show up to play Sylar's real father.
Glover, of course, is no stranger to playing the father's of villains, as he spent six years on
Smallville as Lionel Luthor, Lex's father. Lionel was eventually killed by his son, an ominous event that could easily be revisited with
Heroes.
Heroes is a fan of bringing in memorable guest stars to play the parents of the heroes, most notably
Star Trek's
George Takei as Hiro's dad. Fans previously met Sylar's real mother, played by
Pushing Daisies star
Ellen Greene.
The addition is an interested blend of two popular sci-fi shows. This season, ironically,
Smallville has done a lot of things better than
Heroes, particularly in establishing a major villain. Also, Glover's death on
Smallville proved that show wasn't afraid to ax a series regular, while not one has been killed off this season on
Heroes.
The volume 3 finale of
Heroes airs this Monday at 9pm and returns for volume 4 February 2, the day after the Super Bowl. If you want your John Glover fix earlier, he will soon be starting a multi-episode arc as Uncle Saul's romantic partner on ABC's
Brothers & Sisters.
