Robert Forster has had a long and varied career in both film and television, but to me he'll always be Max Cherry from Quentin Tarantino's
Jackie Brown. That's the role that catapulted the character actor from junk like
Scanner Cop II and into more respectable fare. Though he's appeared on TV shows such as
Desperate Housewives and
Karen Sisco over the years, he'll be getting his biggest role to date now that he's been cast in the third season of
Heroes. According to Michael Ausiello at
Entertainment Weekly, Forster will be playing the role of Peter and Nathan's father, Arthur Petrelli. The character has been presumed dead since the show began, but on
Heroes anything is possible.
It hasn't been revealed whether Arthur is actually alive, and because this is
Heroes he could easily appear via flashback or in one of Hiro's time travel adventures. However, actress Cristine Rose, who plays Angela Petrelli, hinted to Ausiello that her character has a secret that will be revealed in the two-hour season premiere on September 22. "There's a secret that comes out that if you're a true fan, you're just going to die," she hinted. "It's a good Angela secret, and it's [not about] her powers."
I was lucky enough to see the first hour of the
Heroes premiere at Comic-Con, but unfortunately it didn't contain any major revelations from Angela. While her big secret could be that her husband is still alive, I'm hoping that's not the case. The writers have already resurrected the dead more times than necessary, and they also pull the same trick with another character in the first half of the premiere. While I always enjoy seeing Forster on screen, I'd rather Arthur stay in the past.
No matter where poppa Petrelli shows up, fans will no doubt be wondering what sort of power he has. Will he be a hero, or will he be one of the many villains that wreak havoc in season 3? Fans will have to wait until September 22 to find out.
