Quentin Tarantino: "What the F*** is Heroes?"

Quentin Tarantino Turns Down HeroesFamed Hollywood director Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction) has rejected an offer to direct an episode of Heroes, because he has never heard of it. Tarantino was likely approached to direct an episode of Heroes: Origins, the spin-off that has already attracted Kevin Smith to its ranks.  But Tarantino, who has also recently announced he is taking a hiatus from film, hadn't the foggiest idea what Heroes was even all about.

According to DigitalSpy, Tarantino's reply when he was asked to take on an episode of Heroes was "What the f*** is Heroes?" Was Tarantino putting the paper on, or does he really not have a clue what NBC's most successful new show is all about.  And how the heck could he have missed the Heroes world tour? While Tarantino dissing Heroes isn't too much of a concern for the hotly anticipated show, it is a sad statement for Tarantino, whose box office mojo is slumping after the disastrous Grindhouse experiment, might benefit from a chance to helm one of the hottest shows on television.

One thing this bit of news might betray is NBC's plan for the Heroes: Origin project.  With Kevin Smith's involvement in the franchise, and now word of Tarantino, it could be that the Heroes gang is going for a run of A-List directors for the spin-off.

This may also indicate that the creators are merely fishing to see if the Kevin Smith-level of enthusiasm can be replicated amongst the big screen's auteurs.

With accusations of stunt casting already being thrown at the network (read: Isaiah Washington in Bionic Woman), too much of an influx of big screen talent may leave Heroes fans a little bewildered.  Big screen directors often find it difficult to muster their voice in the confines of television production schedules.
