Claire and Peter separate to look for Nathan, and are stopped at gunpoint by HRG, who demands proof that Claire isn't Sylar. They convince him, and they hug. Peter says he took Sylar's power. Security comes and holds them at gunpoint, telling them to get on the ground. Claire walks right up to the gun. "You can either listen to me now, or I can tell you after you shoot me."

Matt and Angela arrive at the suite and find Nathan dead in the chair. He tries to keep Angela away, but she runs to him and sees his body. She screams "No!" and closes his eyes. She holds him to her and says she doesn't understand. Matt was supposed to save him.

Sylar (as Nathan) catches up with Samuels, who, along with the Secret Service, is escorting the President out. Liam branches off from the herd to say he can't give Nathan time with the President. He says that's okay, you don't have anymore time to give. Sylar shifts into Samuels (after ostensibly killing him) and continues with the agents.

The President is escorted into his car, and Sylar (as Samuels) gets inside. "Thank God you're alright, sir." He says. He congratulates the President on a great job today, and shakes his hand. Something's wrong. He shifts into several different shapes before becoming Sylar again--and sees that the President was actually Peter as Peter stabs him up the chin with a tranquilizer. "Bet you didn't think I took that one from you." Sylar goes unconscious and falls backward.

HRG, Matt, and Angela look at unconscious Sylar, whom they have brought back to the suite. HRG says he bought time sending Peter and Claire after Nathan. Matt says they need to chain him up or tranquilize him. They need Matt's help to do... something... that will bring back Nathan to convince the President this whole program was a mistake. It comes to light that they are asking Matt to turn Sylar into Nathan with his mental abilities: to absorb all of Nathan's memories, shift into his form, and convince him that he is Nathan. No one will ever see the difference, and it will be permanent. HRG says that if Matt doesn't do this, Nathan will be gone forever. Angela begs Matt to help her bring Nathan back.

Matt goes over to Sylar's unconscious body. He holds his face and says the words, "Sylar is dead. You are no longer Sylar. Yo are no longer Gabriel Grey. Your life is over," repeatedly. He erases Sylar's memories and instills Nathan's memories. "You are Nathan Petrelli." Sylar begins to convulse and choke, and his body changes into Nathan's. He wakes up. "Ma?" They look down at Nathan, alive.

Later, everyone gathers to burn Sylar's body (the shapeshifter James Martin's body, which was in deep freeze in Building 26), and Nathan lights the pyre. "It's a new beginning," he tells Angela.

HRG asks Nathan how his meeting with the President went. He says he got funding, resources, deniability for... what were they going to call it?

HRG looks at him. "I always liked The Company."

Hiro grasps his head. He doesn't feel well. He tells Ando it's time for them to go home. They leave.

Claire looks at HRG. I can't believe he's really dead, she says. HRG hugs her and they walk away. Matt looks at HRG sadly, disapprovingly. He shakes his head, and walks away. Suresh shakes Peter's hand and drifts off. Angela, Peter, and Nathan remain at the pyre, watching Sylar's body burn.

End of Volume Four.

And now for the beginning of Volume Five, "Redemption."
