Claire (Hayden Panettiere) is home alone in California when Sylar (Zachary Quinto) shows up, creepier than ever, wanting her powers. The two have a long game of cat-and-mouse in the house, although since Sylar has regained so many of his abilities, it makes absolutely no sense that it takes him so long to knock her out. However, it gives Sylar a chance to practice his crazed serial killer and Claire a chance to practice being Jamie Lee Curtis in
Halloween (minus the hermaphroditism).
While playing hide-and-seek, Sylar discovers a box marked “Level 5,” containing dossiers of all kinds of people with powers. But first he wants Claire, and after she tries stabbing him with a kitchen knife, he puts an end to this charade by pinning her against a wall, pointing his finger, and slicing off her skull.
He puts her body on the coffee table and begins poking around his her squishy brain. He reveals that Claire has no nerve endings, which is why she can’t feel pain. She asks if he’s going to eat her brain, and he says that’s disgusting. I suppose if Heroes won’t answer any questions, at least they’re disproving some fan theories. Sylar finds what he’s looking for.
Before taking off, Sylar puts the top of Claire’s skull back on her head so it can reattach. She asks why he didn’t kill her, and he tells her that she’s special and that she can never die, and now, neither can he.
