Back in the present: Angela touches her shoulder, and Alice looks at her. “I’m alive.” Angela asks how this is possible, and Alice says that she found this place packed with food, and when that ran out, she did what she had to do, and stole what she needed. Angela asks why she stayed. “You told me, your dream. You said I’d be safe if I stayed here. And I thought the world would be safe from me,” Alice says. Angela asks about the night she left. What happened? Alice tells her: The night you left, Suresh came for me.

Flashback: Suresh takes a needle and tries to inject Alice, but a major storm starts, and she runs outside. Suresh runs after her and slaps her in front her father, who uses his ability to blast Suresh away. A guard fires at Angela’s father, starting a chain reaction amidst the storm. Alice runs underneath one of the buildings and hides from the assault happening around her.

Back in the present: Alice covers her face and cries. “I have socks for you,” Angela says. She steals socks for Alice when she needs to remind herself there are simple ways to protect the ones we love. The sisters smile at each other, until Angela tells her she lied that night, because she was trying to protect Alice. Alice gets angry and suddenly causes a lightning storm. Peter and Mohinder rush down. Alice sees Suresh in his son, and, afraid, electrifies him. He falls to the ground. Peter holds onto Angela, but she goes after Alice in the storm. She tries to tell Alice that this is her family, and everything will be okay. “Don’t punish them for my mistakes,” Angela says. “Let’s go home.”

“No,” Alice says, runs out, and vanishes.

Mohinder stands outside. Peter rushes to tell him that Alice is gone, but he found an old reel in the lab of Dr. Suresh, and maybe it can give Mohinder some much-needed answers. Mohinder questions if he should just leave alone what’s been buried. The cars are waiting to leave the site, but Suresh says he’s not going. He’s not ready to move on and forgive himself yet.

Angela stands in the café and looks at her family sitting down to eat. She remembers May 1961, when the four of them made the Company. She tells the three boys that she had a dream about the future. That they did whatever was necessary to protect themselves. Necessary evils. They form the Company.

Nathan goes up to Angela with the book, Alice in Wonderland. He hands it to her. “I’m never going to see her again,” she says. “You don’t know that,” he says. Nathan says he gets it, all of the guilt. But she needs to let go. “Come join us?” She smiles and nods, and he leads her over to the table. Peter grasps her hand, and they begin to eat. Claire asks for someone to say something. Peter says this is not a Company. It’s a family. Families can forgive. They’re stronger together. He says they need to keep their existence secret. No more hunting.

What now? Claire asks. Nathan says he will take ownership of his mistakes, and go talk to the President. HRG says it looks like he already has.

They look up to the TV: Senator Nathan Petrelli is giving a Press Conference on national television. It’s Sylar, promising that nothing will ever be the same.
