Back in Newark: Sylar tells the Luke to show him the ability. The boy melts a figurine from a few feet away and explains that it works like a microwave (some things burn, others melt, water boils). The kid says he doesn’t have any friends, and Sylar tells him that he’s lying about everything because he doesn’t want to be himself. Also, that his mom is scared of him because she can tell that in his mind, he’s different. As they talk, Agent Simmons breaks free from his chair and grabs the gun that Sylar left out. Luke sees him and runs across the room to stop him. Luke puts up his hand to stop the agent and melts the man, killing him. The mother screams in horror that the agent was going to save them, and screams, “What are you?”
Sylar walks out of the house, and the kid runs after him, asking Sylar to take him along. Sylar let Luke live for saving him from the agent, but the boy also just killed his last hope of finding his father. The kid says he knows where Sylar’s father is, and he knows why Sylar is looking: Because they’re alike, both trying to figure out why they are the way they are, and they know their fathers might be the only answer. Luke promises to walk Sylar right up his father’s driveway, and Sylar can tell he isn’t lying. They take the boy’s mother’s car and drive off.
Traci and Peter wait in a deserted building. Nathan drives up alone. Traci confronts him saying that Peter will come out when he knows he’s safe. Nathan reminds her of their deal. Behind her back she's armed with her ice power, ready to disable him. Nathan says he knew it was a trap but came anyway, because he trusts Traci, and he’s not the devil she thinks he is. Nathan calls Peter is unpredictable, and tells her that he’s going to get everyone killed with his tactics. She begins to believe him, and stops with the ice hand. Seeing Nathan was convincing her, Peter walks up with a gun pointed at Nathan, when Noah and Danko reveal themselves behind Nathan and set their sights on Peter and Traci. Peter grabs Nathan in a stand-off with the two gunmen, gets his flying ability and flies away. More soldiers come out and grab Traci, and take her away screaming.
Noah had Peter in his sight, but said he didn’t, so he wouldn’t have to kill him. Nathan thanks him. (Favor returned.)
Back at the trailer, Peter, Mohinder, Parkman, Ando, and Hiro meet up. Peter looks at the drawings, while Mohinder explains Parkman’s new prophetic gift. Parkman wants to make the government pay for Daphne’s death. Peter gives a speech saying that their old lives are over. They must leave everything and do what it takes to survive. “They’re going to come for us,” he says. “And when that day comes, we have to be ready.”
In Costa Verde: Claire sits on her bed, morose. Sandra Bennet asks what she thought of her 2-day college visit, and Claire says she’s thinking about staying close to home. She gets a text from an unknown number: “There is hope. You can still fight back. –Rebel.” She replies, “Who is this?” and gets: “A friend. Who hates them as much as you.” She replies, “I’m scared.” The ally replies, “Me too. Can’t give up. Be ready.”
It’s revealed that Nathan has been talking to Angela about the disaster at the crash site. He tells her that he told her all of this because he knows Peter will go to her for help. She replies that he’s actually calling her for reassurance because he finally sees how this could all end badly. But he pushed her aside and went to the president because he thought his team could handle it. And she suggests that he does just that. She hangs up.
Nathan walks into a truck, where inside Traci is bound to a chair. He tells her that it’s it’s too late for her, and that these powers, even in the hands of good people, just lead to chaos. She tells him that he’s just power and ambition, and that’s all he ever was. “You’re one of us,” she screams at him. “Try not to fight it, it will be easier,” he tells her as he walks away, and they stick a tube up her nose and cover her head again.
