One year ago in Memphis, Claire's biological mom Meredith and her brother, the blue-fire throwing Flint, rob a convenience store before being stopped by Company Agent Thompson (Eric Roberts). Julia's brother is always welcome on any TV show I'm watching, though I wish he'd take Meredith to Joshua Tree to get high on some magic mushrooms. That could be the greatest episode of Heroes never written.

Now I'm confused, because sometimes on Heroes people who are related share similar powers (Matt Parkman and his dad, Meredith and Flint), and other times the powers have no similarities. Maybe it has to do with the difference between being born with powers and being injected with powers like Nathan and Tracy were. This development still makes me think West was actually Nathan's son, which would mean Claire fell in love with her brother, which is the only way that plotline could be considered interesting.

Flint escapes, but Thompson captures Meredith and convinces her to become a Company Agent. Their first mission involves taking in a guy who can turn his arms into solid metal. It's just like Colossus, except Tim Kring claims he knows nothing about the X-Men.

Back at the Company, Meredith learns Flint was captured by an invisible man. That could be as close as we'll get to the return of Claude. Meredith breaks Flint out of prison to flee the country with her baby brother. Thompson follows them which leads to a fire shoot-out on the train ending in Flint's escape and a massive trainwreck.

Thompson learns that Meredith thinks her daughter is dead, so he lets her go out of pity. At that exact moment, a cheerleadrr named Claire rushes into the same trainwreck to save a man, just like he did in the pilot episode of Heroes.
