Unfortunately for fans of NBC's
Heroes, there are still many months remaining before the series will return for its third season this fall. When we last left the super powered crew, Peter (
Milo Ventimiglia) had just stopped a deadly viral outbreak, while both Nikki (
Ali Larter) and Nathan (
Adrian Pasdar) were left for dead. To tide fans over until the big re-launch of the new season in September, we have some spoilers teasing what viewers can expect when the show returns.

volume 2 in my opinion was a sophomore slump, probably because season one was one of the best first seasons...
One of the biggest questions regarding season 3 of
Heroes is whether Elle will return. It's been reported that
Kristen Bell is not officially signed to another season, but she has admitted that she'd love to come back to the show. "I've had an unbelievable experience thus far," Bell said in a recent interview with TV Guide, "and they seem to like me and want to keep me onboard, so we're going to keep that ball rolling for as long as we can. I think we fell in love. Just try and separate us!"
Though Bell is off to shoot a movie in Rome and New York City for the next 12 weeks, she says that by the time she gets back "[
Heroes] will be getting things together to start shooting. So I'll be free." She also teases that Elle "is so evil and so broken, yet she actually redeems herself over the next couple of episodes." Hopefully fans will get to see Elle's turn toward redemption sooner rather than later.
Viewers may not see Elle in the first batch of new episodes due to Bell's scheduling conflicts, and the same may go for Claire.
Hayden Panettiere is currently shooting the film
I Love You, Beth Cooper up in Vancouver and won't be free until May. However,
Heroes is supposed to ramp up production beginning in April, so Claire may have to sit on the sidelines for at least a little a couple of episodes.
As for what will happen in season 3, rumors include a Japanese woman coming into Ando's (
James Kyson Lee) life, Nikki "dying" and being replaced by one of her alter egos, and another appearance from Future Hiro (
Masi Oka). All signs also point to Nathan returning despite being shot at the end of season 2. There will also be a couple of new characters added to Micah's New Orleans storyline. One is Officer Warren, a handsome police officer who may be a love interest for new hero Monica (
Dana Davis). There will also be a new character named Knox, who is a frightening guy recently sprung from the slammer. He may be one of the "villains" mentioned in the title of the show's third chapter.
As always, any of these spoilers are subject to change as we get closer to the third season premiere.
