Heroes To Launch World Tour

Heroes has conquered the world, literally. NBC will be sending the cast of Heroes on a worldwide tour to promote the show in new as well as existing markets.  Heroes Tim Kring unveiled the plan yesterday at a press event.  The idea was hatched on a lark with the thinking that NBC would never shoulder the expense, but the peacock surprisingly came through with the green.

Kring said the world tour and outreach strikes from the heart of Heroes message. "The theme of 'Heroes' has been about people from all over the planet coming together to do great things. About making the world a smaller, more inter-connected place. This tour is the embodiment of those ideals. Clearly, the show has struck a real chord with people around the world, creating a huge fan base. We're eager to visit these fans and spread the word about the show."  Kring said.

On the business side things, it’s no secret that NBC came in third out of the big three for upfront sales this year, so it’s not surprising to see NBC’s execs focused on innovation. John Miller, the chief marketing officer for NBC highlighted the green impact in his statement. "This challenging, multi-dimensional venture is a full-throttle effort to utilize all the assets afforded by NBC Universal with a true global vision. It is only fitting that this worldwide marketing adventure be centered on an epic series such as 'Heroes,' which is ready to take the world by storm, both literally and creatively."

Heroes, which draws its strength from the often obsessive and loyal Comic book crowd, seems custom tailored for something this high profile.  It’s hard to say if a “My Name is Earl” world tour would pack quite the same punch.

So far, stops in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Munich, Paris, London and New York City have been planned with more on the way.
