"Hysterical Blindness" picks up from last week's cliffhanger with Sylar crawling out of the grave of "Nathan" after Millie ordered a hitman to kill. The newly resurrected Sylar, unfortunately, has no idea who he is and why he's in the woods and it only gets worse as Baltimore cop Lubbock (Ernie Hudson) finds out that he's watchmaker and murderer Gabriel Grey.

To sum it up, four things happened on Heroes this week: Claire kissed a girl, Sylar found refuge with the Carnies, Emma discovered another use for her powers and we finally learned who killed Claire's old roommate Annie. Now let's get on to the recap and review.

The Carnies

The Carnies' overall goal is still unclear to me at this point but at least Samuel has narrowed down the task for the day: to fill the empty seat at the family table left by his late brother. It appears that Samuel wants Claire to fill the void, much to the dismay of Lydia, who is worried about the consequences of Samuel's decision. We also learn that choosing Claire isn't some spur of the moment decision Samuel came up with because he even has a sneaky Carnie on campus in the form of sorority girl Becky (Tessa Thompson), who has the power of invisibility and who has been setting up Gretchen to drive a wedge between her and Claire. Oh and did I mention that Becky's also responsible for the death of Annie?! At the last minute, however, Samuel has a change of heart and we find out that it's Sylar. Now this makes a lot more sense than recruiting someone whose only power is rapid cellular regeneration. I'm guessing he initially wanted Claire as part of a revenge plot against HRG but that remains to be seen.

Now for the interesting part, we see Samuel and his carnies emerge in the middle of the woods where Sylar is running away from the cops. Samuel then gives Sylar refuge as the carnival disappears into thin air just before Lubbock arrives.

Claire

After finding a new BFF in Gretchen, Claire is musing at the refreshing of phase of college life. No more snipers lurking around, just a stalker roommate and a bunch of sorority chicks vying for her attention. We then find out that Mommy Sandra Bennet was a sorority girl so Claire is now being invited to be one, though Gretchen doesn't like the idea of having Stepford Claire as a roommate. Still, Claire decides that they should both check out the sorority because cheerleading days are so over and this apparently is what normal girls do.

Gretchen gets creepier by the minute though, raiding Claire's closet without permission and keeping a bunch of photos and info about Claire's life, not to mention documents about the death of Claire's former roommate Annie. Understandably, Claire accuses Gretchen of murdering Annie and calls her out on the stalker behavior but Gretchen denies killing Annie. However, she does admit that she has a crush on Claire and then plants a wet one on her. Was the kiss really all worth the hype?

Peter and Emma

Peter tries to reconnect with his family over lunch but Nathan doesn't show up and Mother Angela, unfortunately, thinks that Nathan is still her golden boy. Elsewhere, Emma's still buried in the filing system at her mother's hospital and can't move on because she still blames herself for the death of a man named Christopher. Their paths cross once again when Peter saves Emma from getting hit by a bus, consequently absorbing Emma's Rainbow Brite powers in the process. At the hospital, Peter and Emma bond over their abilities before we find out that Emma can charge up and shoot those lights if she exerts a lot of force.  Is love in the cards for Peter and Emma?
