After two months of watching
Heroes, we finally get some answers to the baffling mystery that is Samuel. But that's not all we get from "Brother's Keeper," the 10th episode of
Heroes' fourth season. There's also significant progress about the whole body-switching mess involving Sylar, Nathan and Matt now that the truth has been revealed.
Hiro, Mohinder and SamuelStill distraught over the missing love of his life, Hiro reluctantly agrees to go back in time to about eighth weeks ago to a motel room in Texas not to save Mohinder's life but to save his father Chandra Suresh's film before Mohinder destroys it.
As Hiro goes back in time, we learn what Mohinder has been up to since his absence on
Heroes. Evidently, he's gone back to teaching in India but is distracted every now and then by his father's research, particularly his 1960s film about Coyote Sands in which Suresh talks about the potential danger of rounding up people with abilities in one location due to an apparent force that gets amplified ten-fold in the presence of a special child--- who grew up to be Samuel the Carnie.
A curious Mohinder then creates a compass that would take him directly to Samuel only to discover that Samuel's brother Joseph has spent 40 years suppressing Samuel's dark powers. Samuel overhears about the film and kills Mohinder but not before Mohinder destroys the film.
Hiro successfully travels back in time, gets the film and fulfils his promise as part of his deal with Samuel, who is unaware that Hiro kept Mohinder alive in an asylum. Unfortunately, Samuel hasn't lived up to his end of the bargain so Charlie is still trapped somewhere out there.
Tracy and Claire
Tracy has lost control over her powers, even freezing Claire accidentally. It's a good thing Claire can't die over a dismantled frozen foot. The two girls bond as Tracy contemplates on joining the carnival while Claire talks about how leading a normal college life is impossible. Nothing significant really happens in this part of the book but thanks to Claire's little encouragement, it looks like Tracy has finally made up her mind about joining Samuel.
Nathan, Peter and MattThe past few weeks have been a blur for Nathan, who is still struggling to remember who he is. Peter can't do anything about Nathan's identity drama but luckily, the Haitian arrives to give Peter a storage address where he'll discover the disturbing truth. Peter and Nathan go to the said address and find Nathan's lifeless body---which Peter initially dismisses as a shape shifter. But Nathan knows better and the bits and pieces that come to his mind (including memories of Sylar, a hotel room and an angry Matt Parkman) as he touches the dead corpse hint that there's more to uncover. Aware that they can't get anything out of mother Angela, the Petrelli brothers look for Matt Parkman, who is still critical in the hospital after committing suicide by cop. Peter heals Matt, who then lets the whole truth out of the bag.
Unfortunately, reviving Matt also means bringing Sylar into the surface. Sylar gains control over Matt's body and tries to convince Nathan to touch his hand in attempt to retrieve his own body. Peter tries to prevent this from happening but the slightest touch restores almost everything to its original state: Matt has full control over his mind and body, while Sylar is inside his real body but has not yet taken full control of Nathan's appearance and mind.
