This week on Heroes, it's all about Noah and Tracy trying to save young Jeremy, Claire seeking a normal college life but exposing herself in the process and Matt trying to quiet those voices in his head but to no avail. After a relatively slow-paced interval, "Strange Attractors" provides us three storylines with continuity and the promise that it will all add up to something someday.
Claire and GretchenHeroes have decided to extend the girl-on-girl experiment by toying with the possibility of Claire going into a lesbian relationship as she talks about her vague feelings for Gretchen after that
much publicized kiss. Does she like Gretchen only as a friend? Claire doesn't clarify but she doesn't rule out a romantic relationship either. Claire and Gretchen's awkward "kiss" discussion gets interrupted by the arrival of sorority girls, including Carnie Becky, who try to kidnap them for Hell Week. The girls are then thrown into the trunk of a car where they get awkwardly closer before they are sent on a scavenger hunt in what looks like a creepy slaughterhouse.
After exploring the slaughterhouse, admitting she's a virgin and solving several odd puzzles in attempt to get out, Claire smells something fishy and eventually stumbles on invisible Becky who is trying to kill Gretchen. In the process of fighting, Becky gets caught on a hook and becomes visible while Claire ends up impaled on a spike. As exciting as it may be, no one dies in the course of action. But at least, Claire and Becky's secret is out now (as witnessed by two other sorority girls) so this college life drama is likely to get more interesting.
Matt and SylarIt's been some time since we last saw Matt and his conscience in the form of Sylar. Nothing's changed except for the fact that Sylar isn't just screwing Matt's head, he's also screwing Matt's wife. In attempt to shut out Sylar, Matt drinks alcohol and strangely, this causes Sylar to disappear. This whole Matt-Sylar storyline is still so confusing to say the least but it gets oddly better when Sylar takes over Matt's body. In a nut shell, Sylar is now Matt Parkman and Matt is just a figment of his imagination.
Jeremy, Noah and TracyNoah stays true to his word that he would help save young Jeremy the healer-killer in
last week's episode but his efforts fall short even with Tracy around to lend a hand and reflect on her own life story. Meanwhile, Samuel appears in front of Tracy out of nowhere and uses his powers to transport her to the carnival he calls home. Samuel then gives a sermon on how people like her and Jeremy belong to the carnival but Tracy isn't convinced just yet so Samuel gives her a magic compass that would allow her to find her way back to the carnival just in case she changes her mind. Back in the real world, Jeremy accidentally kills a man after getting out of jail and is then killed by a vigilante officer. In the end, it becomes clear that this sad plot was
Heroes' device to get Tracy drawn to the carnival and away from Noah.
Memorable quotes from tonight's episode:"Geez Claire, you don't have go all Buffy on us. We're just kidnapping you." - Rebecca to Claire
"That is the second Parkman I made scream today. If you want I can give you some pointers later." - Sylar to Matt after having sex with his wife
"He's probably working on his father's research." - Sylar to Matt, remarking in Mohinder's distinctive accent
