Last week on
Heroes, we watched as Nathan Petrelli began using his power (political, that is) for evil rather than good, seeking to round up and contain all people with abilities, with the U.S. government backing him up. We watched as our super-powered protagonists were hunted, bound, and herded onto a plane taking them to the
Heroes version of Guantanamo Bay. We also watched as Claire snuck onto the plane, released her buddies, and Peter blew a hole in the side of the plane, taking it down.
Flash forward: 43 hours after the plane crash, Nathan talks to an unknown listener on the phone. He explains that Claire got on board the plane and took it down. The pilot managed an emergency landing, but the plane broke apart on contact and some prisoners escaped.
Back to the plane crash: Hiro is one of those escaped prisoners, and he runs from several gun-toting soldiers in black. He runs right over a ledge and into Mohinder and Parkman, who grab him and help him hide from the soldiers. They want Hiro to use his power, but he explains that he lost it. Mohinder wants to keep moving, but Hiro wants to go back and save the others. Mohinder wants to find cover in the thick trees, but Parkman walks the other direction. He turns and he has his prophesy white-eyes, and the other two follow him.
Claire and Peter are running away from the crash site together, when H.R.G. jumps out and grabs Claire. He points his gun at Peter. Claire questions him, and Noah says that this situation is more complicated than she knows. Noah cocks the gun on Peter, but can’t bring himself to shoot him (especially in front of Claire). Claire tells Peter to run for it. Claire tells H.R.G. that he’ll never get away with this, because the plane crash will cause people to ask questions. He says no one will ever find out, as bombs begin dropping on the crash site below them.
Flash forward again to Nathan on the phone: He explains to his listener that he had Danko (the head hunter) in his face as soon as he got to the scene of the crash.
Back to the plane crash: Nathan and Danko argue about the airstrike and how the soldiers were shooting to kill after the crash. Danko says they were following protocol against the prisoners, who became designated dangerous terrorists as soon as the plane went down. Nathan didn’t want anyone killed. Danko compares the heroes to rabid dogs, and wants them eliminated to protect civilians. He blames Nathan’s daughter (Claire) for the mess, and Nathan says he’ll deal with her.
Peter runs past Traci and tells her to follow him, but she says she can’t do this and wants to go back to her normal life. She doesn’t understand why Nathan would do this. Peter tells her she needs to come with him to fight Nathan. If she stays, he wins. She follows Peter.
Hiro and Mohinder follow Parkman to an abandoned trailer in the desert, and we see Parkman following a vision of African Isaac to the door. His trance compels him to break into the trailer, where he finds paper and markers. He brings them outside and starts to draw his visions. Mohinder and Hiro find clothes on a clothesline and begin to put them on in order to blend in. Hiro finds a “Rednecks Make Better Lovers” shirt, but thinks better of it, and puts it back on the line.
Daphne speeds up to Ando, who is trying to buy a plane ticket to Arkansas, where he tracked Hiro using their GPS. Daphne is worried about Parkman since he never came home the night before. Ando tells her about Hiro getting kidnapped, and she speeds them off to Arkansas to investigate.
Mohinder asks Hiro how he lost his ability, but Hiro says it’s complicated. Mohinder tells Hiro to turn himself in, because if he doesn’t have powers they might let him go. Hiro refuses and calls himself a warrior. Parkman wakes up, and sees his own drawing of Daphne being shot near the crash site. He rushes back to save her, and the others follow.
