Proving just how valuable last week's episode of
Heroes was, the only part of it in the “Previously on” segment is the final scene of Arthur in Africa. Even the writers and producers know last week was a total waste of time.
Arthur saps Hiro's mind until he gets distracted by a painting of an eclipse. I already don't care about this eclipse, and it hasn't even started. Ando (
James Kyson Lee) gets Hiro (
Masi Oka) to teleport, though it's not easy because Hiro has been mindwarped into a 10-year-old boy. We learn 10-year-old Hiro loved chicken and waffles, which is hopefully the perfect segue for a very special Snoop Dogg cameo.
Instead, we get some wacky hijinx involving 10-year-old Hiro discovering his powers and using his ability to freeze time as a way to tie people's shoe laces together. This is amusing for about one scene, but if this continues, it's just going to be a silly waste of time. Possibly saving this storyline is the fact that Hiro teleports them to a comic book store, where they find a copy of 9th Wonders that describes their current actions.
Back at Pinehearst, Arthur knows Sylar saved Peter, so he throws him in a cell with Elle, who's still angry over the whole “Sylar killing her daddy” thing. She electrocutes his shirt off, and he takes it because Sylar must do penance for his sins. He gives an emotional confession before taking Elle's powers away without having to cut her head off. Wow, Heroes just managed to create a boring scene starring
Kristen Bell and a shirtless
Zachary Quinto. That takes a very special talent. Afterwards, Elle teaches Sylar how to use his new electrical abilities, and things turn sexy. They make a cute couple, but it doesn't change the fact that he killed her father, so it could never work.
Flint and Knox chase down Claire and Peter while Peter has intense, teenage soap opera emotional scenes about wanting to keep Claire innocent. It's during these scenes that I think, ‘If I wanted teen melodrama, I could switch the channel to the CW and watch the very special, black-and-white episode of
One Tree Hill written by Chad Michael Murray.' This makes me think of the fact that both Murray and
Milo Ventimiglia played two of Rory's suitors on
Gilmore Girls, and I know this is a bit of a tangent, but thinking about how great
Gilmore Girls was is the only way I can make
Heroes interesting.
