Last night's Heroes offered plenty of nice twists and surprises, the most exciting being the revelation of the Group of 12. The mysterious group formed by the older generation of Heroes has been spoken of a lot this season, especially since year 2 is subtitled “Generations.” In last night's episode, after Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg) teamed up with Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar), we caught a glimpse of a photograph featuring 12 people, many of who we already know are Group members.

It's not absurd to make the logical assumption that the people depicted in the photo are the complete Group of 12. Thanks to the glories of the Internet, let's take a closer look at the Group of 12, and try to see what we can infer from this now famous photo.
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

Mr. Parkman First and foremost, there's the big reveal that Parkman's dad is not only one of the 12, but also the mysterious Nightmare Man who terrifies Molly in her dreams. What more do we know about him? Well, based on Heroes: The Mobile Game, his first name is Maury, and we also know the actor who plays him – Alan Blumenfeld. Most notably (at least to me) the rabbi of Stars Hollow on Gilmore Girls, he also played the manager of fictional boy band 2gether in an MTV made-for-TV movie.

Then there are the ones we already knew about: Kaito Nakamura, Charles Deveaux, Daniel Linderman, Angela Petrelli, and not surprisingly, Angela's husband, who the Mobile Game also informed us is named Arthur. The one other member who we've already met was Bob, the Company man played by Stephen Tobolowsky who is working with Mohinder.

Heroes Group of 12 More interesting, however, are the five mysterious people in the photograph, and while we don't know much or anything about them, that won't stop us from speculating wildly. First up is this guy, who to me looks vaguely Hispanic. As such, I can only assume that he is Maya and Alejandro's father. Remember, “Generations” is the watchword.

Heroes Group of 12Next we have this African American woman, and though it's not the same actress, I can only conclude that she is Nana Dawson (Nichelle Nichols). The old woman is clearly more important than she seems, if only because she's played by freaking Uhura. Basically, as you can tell, if we meet any old person, I assume they're a part of the Group of 12.

Heroes Group of 12 Things get trickier after this, because then we have a grey-haired white guy and two white women, one blonde and one brunette. They could be anyone, so the only thing we have to go on would be relative placement in the photograph. The brunette woman is right next to Mr. Parkman, which at first made me think it was his wife, though I suspect Matt would've mentioned this. Maybe it was just another lover, and so Matt has a half-sister or half-brother out there. Niki? Claire's fire-making mom? HRG?

Heroes Group of 12 The grey-haired guy is kneeling in front of them. Due to his proximity to the known Nightmare Man, I can only assume he's not a good guy. Therefore, it makes sense that the grey-haired man is Mr. Gray, Sylar's father. There's an equally good chance that he's an aged, time-traveling Kensei.

Heroes Group of 12 That just leaves the blonde woman, all the way on the left-hand side, and since it appears as though Kristen Bell's character, Elle, will be working for the Company, I will say that it's all in the family, and that the blonde woman, who also worked for the Company, is her mother.

Obviously this is just fun, but what do you think? Do any of these theories about who the remaining five Group members are make sense? Do you have your own ideas about who these characters might be? Post a comment and discuss.
