'Heroes' Drafts Another 'Star Trek' Veteran
'Heroes' Drafts Another 'Star Trek' Veteran
Another classic Star Trek actor is joining Heroes, this time it is Trek alumna Nichelle Nichols who played the sultry communications officer Uhura.  Nichols joins George Takei, who joined the series as Hiro's father papa Nakumara, in a recurring run ion the series that intersects both with an old favorite, and a brand new character in the hurricane ravaged Big Easy, New Orleans.

Nichols plays Nana, a Louisiana native whose home was destroyed during Hurricane Katrina.  Nichols finds herself caring for her grand daughter Monica (played by Diana Davis) as well as season one regular Micah (Noah Gray-Cabey).  What is Micah doing in New Orleans? "Micah is sent to New Orleans to live with the family, It's a quite marvelous, magical story, with wonderful things emerging.”  Nichols told TV Guide.

Monica's character is already known to possess abilities, but what they are exactly is being kept under wraps.  Apparently, according to the TV Guide article, she is some sort of vigilante trying to bring justice to the people of New Orleans.

Nichols was coy as whether or not her character would have abilities.  It would not be uncommon if she did.   The theme of season 2 is “Generations,” and seems to be focused on looking into the genetic past of the characters to get a feel of the historic scope of the great genetic event that was covered in Heroes season 1.

Since TV Guide is reporting Nichols is not appearing until episode four, we can assume we will not be introduced to Monica before then, and quite possibly may not be seeing Micah until then either.  As for how long Nichols' stint will last on Heroes, the report says she is joining as a recurring versus a regular character.  Like Takei of last season, we can assume that Nichols could pop up anywhere.
