Masi Oka, who plays Hiro Nakamura on
Heroes, is set to star in not one but two movies,
Get Smart and
Get Smarter: Bruce and Lloyd Out of Control.
Get Smart, a crime-comedy film based on the television series, is scheduled to open in theaters in June 20, 2008 and will be available on DVD ten days after its premiere. Directed by Peter Segal and written by Tom J. Astle and Mel Brooks, the movies is currently filming in Montreal, Québec, Canada, with cast members such as Steve Carell as Maxwell Smart, Anne Hathaway as Agent 99, Masi Oka as Bruce, The Rock as Agent 23, Nate Torrence as Lloyd and Terry Crews as Agent 91 among others.
After filming
Get Smart, Oka and Torrence will immediately start shooting its sequel
Get Smarter: Bruce and Lloyd Out of Control. The said film is not actually a sequel but is being produced as a parallel content to the movie
Get Smart. The script will also be written by Tom Astle and Matt Ember.
Oka, a 32-year old native of Tokyo, Japan, got his degree in computer science and mathematics at Brown University. Prior to his inclusion on Heroes, he worked as a programmer in the
Star Wars prequel trilogy. As an actor, he appeared on shows like
Dharma & Greg, Citizen Baines, Yes, Dear, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, and movies like
The Proud Family Movie and
Along Came Polly.
Meanwhile, fans of Oka can take delight in his teleport powers on the sci-fi drama
Heroes, which airs every Monday at 9:00 PM on NBC.
