Treat Williams was born December 1, 1951 in Rowayton, Connecticut. His passion for acting began during his days at Franklin and Marshall College in Pennsylvania. He spent his summers acting in both classical and contemporary productions staged by the Fulton Repertory Theater in Lancaster. His big break came after director Milos Foreman saw him play the lead in Grease and cast him in the 1979 film, Hair. On television, Williams became a familiar face as Dr. Andy Brown on the series Everwood. He plays a doctor once again in his new show, Heartland.
Dr. Nathaniel Grant, played by Treat Williams on Heartland, is a dedicated and intense organ donor transplant surgeon whose career often takes precedence over other aspects of his life. His own marriage has ended in divorce, largely due to his focus and commitment to his work. He has to continually deal with his ex-wife, Kate Armstrong, who happens to be the organ recovery coordinator at the same hospital where he works.
