Kari Matchett was born on March 25, 1970 in Spalding, Saskatchewan, Canada. Matchett grew up in Alberta, Canada and was educated at the prestigious National Theater School in Montreal, before taking up further studies, concentrating on Chekhov at the Moscow Theater School in Russia. Matchett became familiar to television audiences when she was cast as Colleen Blessed, president of a hockey team, on the series, Power Play. She recently starred on ABC’s sci-fi series, Invasion, as Dr. Mariel Underlay, before appearing on the just-concluded season of 24 where she played vice presidential chief of staff, Lisa Miller. She has been cast as Kate Armstrong, organ recovery coordinator, in the new medical drama, Heartland.
Kate Armstrong, played by Kari Matchett on Heartland, is the former wife of Dr. Nathaniel Grant, chief of the transplant division at St. Jude’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. She is dedicated to her job and works tirelessly to help save their patients.
