The second episode of Happy Town was full of some surprise answers, some new questions and a lot of crrepy people.

I have a feeling that the writer for the show is a fan of 1970s pop music. I say this because the Happy Town's serial killer is called the Magic Man like the 1976 hit by the group Heart. And several of the creepy incidents in the episode had the 1973 hit You're So Vain by Carly Simon playing in the background.

What's next? Will we find out that the mystery revolves around Barry Manilow's Copacabana? Or Fleetwood Mac's Rihanna is the next victim? Hopefully, it's not a pattern. That would just be too strange.

Surprisingly, we already know who drove the railroad spike through the head of Jerry Friddle. It turned out to be Tommy Conroy's best friend, Big Dave. He did it because he thought Friddle was the Magic Man.

TC knows he did it, but hasn't done anything about it. So far, TC has been played as the "good guy." But since he's the acting sheriff and he hasn't told anyone about Big Dave being the killer, he may not be the hero after all.

The goofy widows that seem to do everything as a group got Hadley the use of the shed behind the boarding house to make her candles. Instead, she used it to copy the skeleton key that opens the third floor room. I hope someone goes to the third floor to feed and care for all those birds. There sure are a lot of them.

Speaking of birds, when Hadley/Chloe was driving down a remote road with the animal-head hammer she found on the third floor, a huge bird crashed through her windshield and caused her to wreck the car. Birds must somehow be important to the secret of the third floor.

The movie memorabilia man seemed to somehow be working with Hadley since he purposely distracted the landlady while Hadley got back from copying the key.

A stranger drugged the girl and she woke up with the creepy brothers. Yikes! Then the same tapioca-eating man offers to help TC solve the town's murder. Who is this guy, anyway?

Meanwhile, the sheriff is still talking incoherently about "Chloe" as he recovers from the surgery to reattach his hand.

My favorite quote from the episode was when one of the brothers told TC, "Be sure to let him know, if he ever needs a hand..."

We may now know who killed Friddle on the ice pond, but we are left to wonder who the tapioca stranger is and why he drugged the girl. We are still waiting to find out why the sheriff's ring keeps falling off and why he chopped off his hand. For that matter, why does he keep talking about "Chloe?"

We don't yet know what the animal-head hammer is all about or why Hadley/Chloe wants it. And we don't know what she's really in town to do.

Happy Town is definitely a twisted riddle of a show. So far, nothing is really making sense, but perhaps we'll get more clues next week.
