Being the daughters of the President of the United States must certainly have its pros and cons. On the cons side, there’s the complete lack of privacy, the constant travel, the fear that something could happen to you or your parents, the media exposure, and so on. On the pros side, you’re a celebrity who gets lots of perks and as the daughters of Barack Obama, if you’re a fan of Hannah Montana
, well, you can just get on the show. Billy Ray Cyrus
said in an interview this week that Malia, 10, and Sasha Obama, 7, have been asked to guest star on an upcoming episode that would air possibly in April.
When asked if the guest appearance was definitely happening, Billy Ray told Access Hollywood
: "They probably will. The invitation is there. You know the Hannah Montana
film comes out in April. Maybe something might happen around then." He refused to give any further details, insisting that he had to keep it a secret. Disney released a statement in response to Billy Ray’s interview today, saying, "We're pleased that Malia and Sasha are fans and, as long as their parents say it's OK, they are invited to the set of Hannah Montana
and all Disney Channel shows, for a guest role or a visit, anytime."
Barack Obama has stated in several interviews what fans his girls are of the Disney show but has also made it a key point to shield them from the spotlight and media attention. Today, Katie McCormick Lelyveld, the communications director for Michelle Obama, told MTV News that "we have received no such inquiry for the girls." To make matters more confusing, Miley Cyrus herself seemed to know nothing about it. "I think that would be really cool and if anything, we would have them visit the set,” she told Access Hollywood
.” They could see what we do, and we could hear about what they do."
