There's something about Miley Cyrus that people like to hate, and it showed in the response to her recent film
The Last Song. But those who actually point out the
Hannah Montana star's lack of acting ability are critics. When it comes to the fans, however, this 17-year-old pop star just can't fail in whatever she does.
Miley Cyrus Snags Another Kids Choice AwardThe Last Song premiered in theaters recently, earning about $25 million in the box office so far.
E! Online notes that it's less than what Miley Cyrus' other movies have brought in, but it's still an admirable amount.
Box office analyst Jeff Bock of Exhibitor Relations told the publication: "While this opening isn't anywhere near the level of her
Hannah Montana doppelganger, this is a very strong opening for her as a solo artist. It's her name above the title, and not many people reach that stature in Hollywood, much less deliver box office."
Despite the bad reviews listed down by
The Daily Mail and a low rating at
Metacritic, it looks like the Miley Cyrus feature remains to be another hit. And that's thanks to the tweens, teens and kids that fawn nonstop over the
Hannah Montana starlet. They support the girl through and through, not minding her "stiff, unconvincing" acting," as said by
The Miami Herald's Connie Ogle. But acting isn't really what brought Miley Cyrus to the spotlight; it's supposedly her music and that somehow baritone voice of hers. The
Hannah Montana singer revealed to
MTV News that her new album will be released soon, describing the record as having a "techno vibe."
"My record is coming out this summer," she said. "[The album is] a little different. It's kind of poppier, but then it still has an edge. All of my music kind of has to. I think it's really fun. It's definitely a good summer CD. It's good to blast in your car."
Miley Cyrus Puts Music Aside for MoviesCyrus added that after another record this June, she'll be working on her films for a while. Her
IMDB page lists four more flicks coming up, which means it's another busy year for this
Hannah Montana star. Like we said, bad reviews just can't make Miley Cyrus disappear from the industry that easily. If they did, she'd probably be smaller than a speck in the universe now.
