These days, it seems you can't pick up a magazine without seeing Miley Cyrus on the cover.  She's come under fire in the last 6 months for growing up too fast, posing for racy pictures, and dressing more maturely.  Despite being dragged through the mud by the press, Miley has stayed positive, thanking her fans for all their support, and kept a low profile.  This week, Miley made yet another magazine cover but this time, it was for something good.  People magazine named her among their most beautiful people in 2008 and talked a little with the Hannah Montana actress about growing up in the public eye.

"It's harder. I've had my awkward stage, but luckily everyone sees me with makeup on. I'm starting to come out of it," she told People.  Cyrus opted for the full makeover for her photo shoot. Many other stars, though, opted to be photographed without makeup and show off their natural beauty. Among them were: star Vanessa Hudgens, country singer Taylor Swift, and movie star Kate Hudson, who also made the cover.  Those who chose to get the full star treatment for their photos included the cast of High School MusicalGossip Girl, Fantastic Four star Jessica Alba, and Enchanted actress Amy Adams among many others.

"When I had dark hair, I was going through a hard time," admits Cyrus.  "I wanted to experiment. I was fighting with the person who liked my highlights so I said, 'Darn it, I'm going to be a pasty little black-haired freak and I don't care what you have to say about it!' I was just trying to find who I am." When Tish, Miley's mom, tried to insert her own opinion on her daughter's makeover gone bad, Miley immediately shut her down, insisting that she can talk for herself. "What I've learned is that you don't have to be stuck to being one thing. When I do change my look, I think it's fun," she stated.
