These days, it seems you can’t say the name
Miley Cyrus without someone bringing up the Vanity Fair photo scandal that happened earlier this year. This month, her father,
Billy Ray, addressed the incident, saying that he wasn’t home at the time of the photo shoot with celeb photographer Annie Liebowitz. He did tell
The Today Show that he told his daughter things would blow over. Unfortunately for the Cyrus family, that day has yet to come. Perhaps the media, and fans, have been waiting for Miley to address the photos herself. They finally got their wish when the
Hannah Montana star opened up to Billboard magazine this week.

"It still hurts when I think about it – but you know what, it doesn't mean that you can't move on,” Miley told Billboard about the photos. "I was embarrassed but also it's like, every career thing that I do can't be perfect, and sometimes my decisions are wrong. I think that just makes me even more relatable.”
The 15 year old Disney star expressed that she felt her fans would stick by her during this difficult time, saying, "I don't think people will look at me any differently, because they're like, 'You know what, I'm going to do stupid stuff too, and I'm going to make mistakes, and that's fine.” Miley may not think that her fans have changed their opinion of her, but she is in the vast minority. In a BuddyTV poll, 84% of the readers feel that Miley has gotten out of hand and that her parents should step in and control her.
Miley’s intention in speaking to Billboard magazine was to promote her new album,
Breakout, which hits stores July 22. "I just hope this record showcases that – more than anything – I'm a writer," she said. Miley has written all of the songs on
Breakout with the exception of two. The video for the first single off the new album, “7 Things”, debuted last night on ABC.
