It's no secret to
Hannah Montana fans (and their parents) that getting tickets to The Best of Both Worlds Tour is nearly impossible.
Miley Cyrus is currently touring the country, performing as both herself and her alter ego. Upcoming stops in 2008 include Cleveland, Atlantic City, and Washington DC. The Disney star kicks off her show each night with opening act, The Jonas Brothers. For those who can't catch her live show, she can be seen tomorrow night on Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve bash.
Cyrus has gone to great lengths to ensure her fans are able to see her perform live. Nationwide contests have been held to allow fans access to her live stage show. When one 6-year-old girl told a heartbreaking story in an essay contest, the company Club Libby Lu couldn't resist giving her the tickets. The only problem was - the story was a fake!
According to TMZ, Hannah Montana tickets were offered by Club Libby Lu to the most deserving child, as decided by an essay contest. One little girl wrote in, saying that her father was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq. The sad tale won her those tickets but upon checking some facts, the company realized they'd been had by a little girl and her mother.
Priscilla Ceballos, the girl's mother, admitted that the story wasn't true but felt they did nothing wrong. " It never did say it had to be true, but [the contest organizer] said, 'That's what we expected'," she told FOX 4 in Dallas, TX. Here is an excerpt from the essay: "My daddy died this year in Iraq. I am going to give my mommy the Angel pendant that daddy put on mommy when she was having me. I had it in my jewelry box since that day. I love my mommy."
Club LIbby Lu is a website designed for young girls between the ages of 5-13, better known as tweens. The stores and website feature shopping and makeovers. They even have their own Hannah Montana makeover. Club Libby Lu is also well known for its charity work, and recently partnered with St. Judy's Children's Research Hospital, asking their customers to donate to the center. The company decided to award the tickets to another deserving child instead and not award the prize to the Ceballos family.
