'Hannah Montana' Stars Encourage Families To Spend Time Together
One thing is certain. Wherever Miley Cyrus goes, her dad is sure to follow. The fifteen year old star of Disney’s Hannah Montana doesn’t seem to mind though. She and Billy Ray are a great example of how a father and his teenage daughter can have a close relationship. They star together on their hit television show, they perform together on his latest album, they are co-hosting the CMT Awards, and this week, it was announced that they’re teaming up for Boys and Girls Clubs Day for Kids, which will take place this September.

The Boys and Girls Clubs Day for Kids is a special event, drawing attention to the importance of parents spending time with their children. Miley and Billy Ray are the perfect pair to host the event. "Miley and I have a great relationship," Billy Ray told the press. "I think it's important as parents and neighbors that we spend quality time with children and to encourage others in our communities to do the same."

Miley echoed her dad’s sentiment’s, saying, "My dad and I talk all the time about the important stuff in my life. He and my mom know how much I appreciate them and our relationship is good because we spend time together. I am happy to be a part of this day to help other kids feel the same way." They day will be filled with several celebrity appearances. Over 2,000 events will be held nationwide in celebration of the day. Here are a few:
  • Los Angeles: Activities at the Santa Monica Pier featuring an appearance by Billy Ray and Miley Cyrus, a Day for Kids parade and other activities at the Pacific Park Amusement Park.
  • Dallas: More than 3,000 youth will enjoy a day at the Bahama Beach Waterpark, including games, face painting, free school supplies and appearances by Dallas Mavericks players.
  • New York City: A street festival in the Bronx, including song and dance, a back-to-school fashion show, the NY Mets mascot, a health fair and equipment from the NY Police and Fire Depts.
  • Tampa Bay: A day at the ballpark with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays

Miley and Billy Ray will be at the Los Angeles event. Parents and kids who are interested in finding out about an event in their area can visit the Boys and Girls Clubs of America website at www.bgca.org.
