Miley Cyrus is preparing to release her new album,
Breakout, on July 22nd. It will be the first time that Cyrus has released an album under her name only, without her alter ego,
Hannah Montana, attached to the project. The album is being released through Disney’s Hollywood Records and her first single, “7 Things”, was released to radio last week. Miley co-wrote the song along with Cyrus with Antonina Armato and Tim James. James has previously worked with Cyrus on her
Hannah Montana material and has also worked with Aly & AJ and the cast of
High School Musical.
In the song “7 Things”, Cyrus takes shots at an ex who refuses to provide a “sincere apology”. Some fans feel that the song is about her ex, Nick Jonas. The two dated last year but broke up after she made their relationship public by kissing him on stage. Here is a sample of the lyrics: "You’re vain, your games, you’re insecure, you love me, you like her, you make me laugh, you make me cry.” We’ll let you be the judge.
Miley performed her new single, at New York radio station Z100’s sold out Zootopia concert, over the weekend. Cyrus went on stage around 10:45pm and got the crowd going with “7 Things” as well as her hit, “Girls Night Out (G.N.O.)”. She performed alongside friends The Jonas Brothers as well as OneRepublic, Simple Plan, Sarah Bareilles, Danity Kane, and a recently reunited New Kids On The Block.
After her performance, she sat down with Z100’s JJ and explained why she gives the peace sign in so many pictures. She is very determined to spread the message of peace and feels that it’s the easiest way to get her point across. She didn’t give out any details on the new album but did express lots of excitement over the success of her hit YouTube show,
The Miley and Mandy Show.
Will you buy Miley's album?
