Tonight is a big night in Hollywood: it’s Oscar night! It’s a particularly special night for
Hannah Montana star,
Miley Cyrus. Prior to the awards ceremony, she sat down in an interview with Barbara Walters. Walters chose only four stars to talk to and Cyrus was in the same company as Vanessa Williams, Harrison Ford, and Ellen Page. She also was asked to be a presenter at tonight’s ceremony and hit the red carpet looking amazing. Read on to find out what she admitted about her friend
Jamie-Lynn Spears, her goals for the future, and what happened on that Oscar stage!
Barbara Walters couldn’t help but ask Miley what will keep her from going down the same path as Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan. For Miley, the answer was simple. “I know that some people don’t have a family to fall back on like I have. That’s what keeps me strong.” Miley admitted that she couldn’t imagine standing in Jamie-Lynn’s shoes, pregnant at 16. “It’s definitely hard when it’s your friend. Jamie-Lynn is a friend of mine but I know how strong she is as a person. I think it’s pretty cool that she stepped away because that’s what I would have to do.” In the interview, she also spoke about her strong relationship with her parents and her desire for more friends.
When Miley showed up on the red carpet tonight, it didn’t take her long to get to E!’s Ryan Seacrest. There, she addressed her comment to Barbara Walters that she didn’t have a lot of friends. “It was taken a little bit out of context,” she admitted. “I’m very work-oriented and I’ve lost a couple friends last year but I’m gaining them all back. All my friends are in the business, too, so it’s hard to find time for each other.”
Miley showed up tonight wearing a beautiful and classy red Valentino dress. She got personal in her interview, admitting that she is single and even gets grounded by her parents when she gets out of line. The young star looks to the future, telling Seacrest: “Right now, I have the respect of being a good role model & that’s something I always want to keep because that’s really important to me. I also want the respect of being a true artist, not only with music but with film, and I want to show people that that’s really what I want to do.”
On the stage, Miley presented alone, introducing the Oscar-nominated song "That's How You Know" from the movie,
Enchanted.
