For quite some time now, rumors have been circulating that
Miley Cyrus is looking to leave her hit Disney show,
Hannah Montana. She has made references to wanting to “hang up the blonde wig” and often says in interviews about her latest album how nice it is just to perform as herself instead of her alter ego. Would Miley really resort to desperate measures, though, to leave the show? Tonight,
Access Hollywood reported that Miley was intentionally causing problems on the set to get fired from the show. TMZ said that Miley and
Billy Ray were showing up late on set, angering their fellow castmates as well as the crew. Miley and her reps are dismissing the claims but with everyone talking, it’s hard to know who’s telling the truth and who’s just causing drama.
E! Online’s Mark Malkin told CBS News, "A couple months ago, Miley actually told me she was thinking maybe this could be the last season for Hannah Montana. I do think Miley is growing out of
Hannah Montana. She wants to be known as Miley Cyrus." A Disney rep says that is “absolutely not true” while Miley Cyrus has told People magazine herself recently, “I am fully committed to
Hannah Montana”.
Access Hollywood caught up with
Hannah Montana costar Cody Linley this week at Monday night’s taping of
Dancing With The Stars to get some answers. “No, she’s not leaving the show, from what I know,” he said. “Honestly, every time I’m on the set, it runs so smooth.”
Whether Miley stays with or leaves
Hannah Montana remains to be seen. If she is on the fence though, she might want to heed the following advice. “Miley needs to stay right where she is,” says In Touch Weekly Senior Editor, Carolina Bermudez. “Her public image has taken a beating this past year – the whole Vanity Fair photo scandal. It would be in her best interest to just ride this contract out and then she can start her next phase with a clean slate.”
