The Disney Channel made some major announcements to the press this week that is sure to make their viewers happy. Disney will be bringing back
Wizards of Waverly Place as well as
Phinneas and Ferb for their second seasons. The biggest news of the week is that
Miley Cyrus and her father,
Billy Ray, have signed on for a third season of
Hannah Montana. With The Disney Channel Original Movie,
Camp Rock, set to debut this month, they gave kids more to look forward to with the announcement of more upcoming movies.
Hannah Montana stars
Emily Osment,
Jason Earles, and
Moises Arias will all appear in the Disney Channel Original Movie,
Dadnapped.
David Henrie, of
Wizards of Waverly Place, and
Phill Lewis, of
The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, will also star. The movie is about a girl named Melissa who becomes frustrated with her father, who is completely preoccupied with the spy novels he writes. In particular, Melissa’s father seems more focused on the hero of his novels, Tripp Zone, than his daughter. When her dad goes missing, Melissa must figure out a way to find and save him. The movie is directed by Paul Hoen, who is also behind the upcoming DCOM,
The Cheetah Girls: One World.
Fans of
Wizards of Waverly Place will love the DCOM,
Princess Protection Place, which will star Demi Lovato and
Selena Gomez. The movie centers around a teenage princess who must escape her country and be placed into a top secret protection program. Disney announced one more movie,
Hatching Pete, which stars Jason Dolley, of
Corey In The House, and
Hannah Montana’s Mitchel Musso. The movie is about a shy teenage boy, who longs to be noticed, especially by the girl he has a crush on. The Disney Channel Original Movies will all air in the 2008-2009 season.
