The WGA strike may have kept many actors sitting at home with nothing better to do than re-organize their closets but it won't keep
Billy Ray Cyrus down. The
Hannah Montana star has found himself starring in three films over the next year, putting television on hold while production of his show is at a standstill. Billy Ray recently wrapped filming on the feature film
Flying By, will get to work on a comedy entitled
Bait Shop and after that, it's on to the big screen adaptation of
Hannah Montana. Last week, co-star Mitchel Musso said that that "nobody knows what's going to happen" regarding the film due to
Miley's hectic tour schedule but dad Billy Ray says it's a go.
In the film
Flying By, Billy Ray plays a real estate developer who decides to reconnect with his high school rock band members after 25 years. This puts his marriage and his career at risk. The good news is that we can look forward to Billy Ray's acting, singing, and guitar playing. The movie also stars Heather Locklear and
High School Musical star
Olesya Rulin. The movie currently in post-production and release date will be set in 2009.
Today, National Ledger reported that Billy Ray's next project will feature his comedic chops in the movie,
Bait Shop. "It's really funny, and I've never done anything like it. I play the bad guy, which is new for me," Cyrus said. The movie also stars Bill Engvall, most famous for his work on The Blue Collar Comedy Tour and his character Bill Pelton on
The Jeff Foxworthy Show. Production for the movie starts this Monday, January 28th.
As soon as Cyrus wraps
Bait Shop, he heads to the
Hannah Montana movie set with his daughter, Miley. Though no plot details are known as of yet, Cyrus has his hands full until production starts in April with his daughter's sold out nationwide tour.
