Undoubtedly, Disney’s original series,
Hannah Montana, is a hit among many youth viewers around the world. A large and loyal fan base have continued to support the show and all things associated with it, whether it be the recently launched clothing and accessory line or the music albums that feature songs from the series and its star,
Miley Cyrus.
However, it was reported lately that
Hannah Montana is not only popular among the younger viewing audience, but also among adults, particularly parents of young boys and girls who are avid followers of the show.
41-year-old mother Sue Kenna told
Sentinel and Enterprise that she has watched the show with her children, 4-year-old twins Brigitte and Isobell, and 2-year-old son Max.
"They just want to sing and dance all the time, so it's good music for them," Kenna said.
Kenna explained that the music of
Hannah Montana allows her and her children to sing along to the words. To ensure that her children are listening to appropriate music, she often makes CDs herself or lets them tune in to Radio Disney.
"Some songs I don't want them to sing along to," the mother of three said. "They can sing along to those [Hannah Montana] songs."
Other parents who were interviewed by the Massachusetts morning daily newspaper also said that the show presents a positive role model in the form of Hannah Montana.
It is because of the wholesome and positive image of the show’s stars that franchises like Subway restaurant have chosen to use the brand as a way of reaching out to the teen and tween market.
On April 30, the sandwich establishment started using
Hannah Montana toys and promotions as part of their campaign against childhood obesity. The promotion ended some weeks ago, but the company noticed a definite increase in sales while it was ongoing.
"My generation had Punky Brewster," Michelle Cordial, Director of Brand Management for Subway, said last week. "This generation has
Hannah Montana combined with the music element. The music element definitely helps."
