Billy Ray Cyrus as Robby Stewart

Robby Ray Stewart of Disney's hit series, Hannah Montana is played by Billy Ray Cyrus. Robby Ray is loosely based on Cyrus, and used to be a very famous country singer, until the death of his wife ended his musical career. He then focused on supporting his family and caring for his son Jackson, and daughter Miley, who leads a double life as the successful teen pop icon, Hannah Montana.

Robby has a great bond with his daughter Miley, and thus has trouble accepting the fact that Miley is not a child anymore and is growing up to be a wonderful teenage girl. He often disrupts Miley's dates, stemming from the fact that he is very attached to her, and that he does not want to see her having a romantic relationship with a boy. Even if Miley constantly assures him that she can handle things on her own, Robby is still overprotective of her.

Several instances of Robby's hard acceptance of the truth include that when he kept buying childish clothes for his daughter, who was growing up to be a teenager. He once bought her a sweater with a bunny head on it, claiming that he knows his daughter well and that she will like it. Miley, on the other hand, was very disgusted. When Robby found out that she did not like it, he became sad, realizing that Miley was indeed growing up.

When Miley asked for her father's permission to fly to Florida with their bodyguard Roxy, Robby immediately refused, claiming that his daughter wasn't ready to go alone. This later led to a fight between the two, wherein Miley said, "I hate you" to her father. Robby even went to the extremes of going into the plane as it was about to leave the airport. Jackson later questioned his father if it was Miley who wasn't ready, or Robby, who would not let go of her. Robby wrote a song about his sentiments about letting go of his daughter, "Ready, Set, Don't Go," which is included in Billy Ray Cyrus' latest album, Home at Last.
