Orlagh Cassidy is a Broadway performer who attended the acting conservatory at the State University of New York at Purchase. Her first appearance on Broadway was in Present Laughter with Frank Langella. She then moved on to perform on off-Broadway productions such as
Bright Ideas and
Our Country's Good. Cassidy moved on to television, appearing first on the soap opera
Another World. She then moved on to appear on television series such as
Sex and the City and
Law and Order. In May 1998, Cassidy was cast as Doris Wolfe on the soap opera
Guiding Light.

She raised her only daughter, Ashlee alone, while establishing herself as one of Springfield's most successful lawyers. Doris was then hired in the District Attorney's office, where she became known for her harsh and unrelenting style of prosecution. She married Alan Spaulding in February 2007, and the marriage lasted for four months.
