Justin Deas, who was born on March 30, 1948 in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, plays the character of Buzz Cooper Sr. on Guiding Light. He is a six time Daytime Emmy Award winner who bagged one award for his work on As the World Turns, two awards for his work on Santa Barbara and three awards for his portrayal in Guiding Light.

Frank "Buzz" Cooper Sr. is played by Justin Deas on Guiding Light. Buzz is a former Vietnam war veteran who left his family to serve his country. His children were told by their mother that Buzz died in action, however years later, he appeared to them. The children, Harley and Frank, turned away from him and he has then since tried to rebuild his relationship with his children. While away from his family, Buzz married Sylvie and had a daughter named Lucy with her. Sylvie soon left Buzz to raise Lucy on his own.
