George Alvarez


Cuban born George Alvarez completed his education at Parsons School of Design where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He moved on to bartend at New York's Studio 54, where he decided to pursue an acting career. He then appeared on several daytime soap operas such as ABC's Port Charles and its spin off General Hospital, and CBS' The Bold and the Beautiful. He was later cast as Ray Santos on the soap opera, Guiding Light. Other television credits include NYPD Blue and Beverly Hills 90210.

Ray Santos is played by George Alvarez on the soap opera, Guiding Light. Ray was born into a family of criminals, however managed to grow up into a good man. He became a priest who stayed close to his family, who saw him as their trusted confidant. Despite their anomalies which caused Ray to frequently struggle with his conscience, he remained faithful to his vows and to his family. In one occasion, he helped his cousin Danny and his wife Michelle to fly to San Cristobel to escape murder charges. Ray also became the moral adviser to his brother, Tony, who was a gang member.
