Soap actress Caroline McWilliams has passed away on February 11 from complications of multiple myeloma, The
L.A. Times has confirmed. She was 64.
Though McWilliams was popularly known for her role as Marcy Hill on
Benson and Sally, she started her soap acting career with
Guiding Light where she played Janet Norris from 1969 to 1975. Subsequently, she was cast in a short-term role on
Another World as Tracy DeWitt before playing LuAnn Pruit, the mother of Jamie Walters' character Ray Pruit on
Beverly Hills, 90210. After getting a taste of the limelight, Caroline McWilliams eventually decided to work behind the cameras as she directed plays like
The Smoke and Ice Follies, You Haven't Changed a Bit and Other Lies and
Divorcons (Let's Get a Divorce). Her sister had nothing but high praises for McWilliams, telling the
L.A. Times, "I really felt she hit her stride when she started to direct."
McWilliams was the former wife of
Batman actor Michael Keaton, whom she divorced in 1990 after nearly eight years of marriage. She is survived by their son Sean Douglas, 26
