Dr. Ben Warren is heading out of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital and over to Grey's Anatomy's upcoming firefighter spin-off. But what does that mean for his relationship with Miranda Bailey?
According to The Hollywood Reporter
, Ben's Jason George will be a series regular on Season 14 of Grey's Anatomy
until they start production on the spin-off. He will then become a series regular on the spin-off, but may appear on Grey's Anatomy
every once in a while.
Details about what role George will play on the spin-off and how he will switch shows haven't been revealed yet, but it will be a big part of his storyline on Season 14 of Grey's Anatomy.
And we already saw hints of Ben's future with the firefighters during Grey's Anatomy's Season 13 finale, when he tried to save Stephanie after the explosion.
One of the biggest questions, though, is how will this move affect Ben's relationship with Bailey? With George on a completely different show, Ben and Bailey might be doomed to break up!
Ben and Bailey have been having their fair share of problems over the last few seasons too. At one point, Bailey even considered firing Ben, but ultimately put him on a six-month suspension for a dangerous procedure he did. And they had argued a bit during Season 13.
There is a chance Ben and Bailey could stay together though. Obviously, with the couple on different shows, we won't see as much interaction as we used to, but they could pop in and out of each other's shows and talk about each other on their own shows. And it would be interesting to see a couple that isn't working together and is always on top of each other.
I'm rooting for Ben and Bailey and hope they find a way for the characters to stay together despite being on separate shows. We've watched them for years and they seem perfect for each other despite their moments of tension. But this is a Shonda Rhimes show, after all, and drama seems inevitable.
