Ellen Pompeo is currently the lead character on the most-watched television show in the country,
Grey's Anatomy. Pretty good for a girl who didn't make it out to Hollywood until 2002. In her first significant role, Pompeo received rave reviews for her portrayal of a young woman carrying a secret burden in “Moonlight Mile". Shortly after, she became a familiar face, appearing in the popular comedy “Old School", in which she played Luke Wilson's love interest.
Then, in 2004, Pompeo was cast as Meredith Grey on
Grey's Anatomy. The rest, as they say, is history.
