Taye Digg's Headed To Grey's Spinoff

Taye Diggs is a terrific actor.  I thoroughly enjoyed his trippy little time drama Day Break (apparently, I was the only one) and, frankly, I feared for the mans reputation when the Lost fill in was quickly ushered off the ABC schedule.  Well apparently Digg's was not tarnished much by the cancellation of Day Break because, according to Hollywood Reporter, he has been given a lead role in the much lauded Grey's Anatomy spin off set to star Kate WalshGrey's Anatomy's fans are a little concerned about Walsh, who plays neonatal surgeon Dr. Montgomery, ex wife of Dr. Shepard and third corner of the Grey / Shepard / Montgomery love triangle.  Yanking her from the show completely reboots the romantic chemistry of the show.  Then again, Meredith's recent death and subsequent resurrection is sure to toss things up on Grey's Anatomy for sure.

No official information has been released on what role Digg's will be playing on the spin off which will be airing in mid May.  It is expected that if the show receives decent enough ratings that a full time series will be launched the following fall.  If that happens, it is unknown if Digg's character will be part of the cast.

Despite Digg's failure to strike a chord with the quirky Day Break, he has managed to keep and full slate of impressive productions.  It's possible his presence on the cast could indicate that the spin-off is a one shot deal, or that secret contingency contracts are laying in wait.  With the current success of Grey's, it is hard to imagine that the massive fan base will not sample the goods.  A quick glance at Digg's IMDB profile showed no major productions in his near future.  Could it be his slate is open assuming a lead role in a second Grey's Anatomy series?

Digg's Day Break, which was canceled after four episodes, has been resuming online and will wrap with its final revealing episode tomorrow, February 28th on abc.com.
