Meredith blah blah blahs about moving in with chatty, chatty Derek and his hair products to Cristina outside of the hospital. Cristina, still reeling from almost killing a patient on the table, finally blows up at her and tells her to shut up! Cristina says that Meredith is dreaming about dead Derek maybe because they shouldn't be together. She tells Meredith to shut up one more time and storms back toward the hospital. Only, she slips on a patch of ice and falls on her back. And before she can get up, a humungous icicle hanging from the overhang falls and pierces her in the abdomen. First of all: ewww! And second, I'm calling shenanigans on those icicles. I grew up in New England so I know a thing or two about icicles. All the dorms at my college had signs that read, "Danger! Falling snow and ice," and they were no joke. I am an expert, and I say that icicles of this magnitude do not just appear because there happens to be a freak ice storm one day in Seattle. Anyway, uh oh for Cristina. Meredith runs to get help. As Cristina lies there, she has a dream about her and Meredith as old, old biddies, arguing about glasses and such. Major McHottie finds her lying on the ground and carries her inside. Inside the hospital, Cristina argues with everyone about her course of treatment.

Here's the status of the three male patients so far: Derek operates on Phil, but he still can't walk. Mark operates on Michael (who had the pen tracheotomy), but his vocal chords were severed, so he'll never be able to talk. Vincent made it through surgery, but he's still very much in critical condition. Callie talks to Major McHottie about his experimental procedure, which involves freezing Phil's spinal cord or something to that nature. Derek is furious that Richard and Bailey want to go through with the procedure. He's having a bad day because a little earlier in surgery, he asked Rose for a scalpel, and she gave it to him, blade side first, cutting his hand. Way to be professional, Rose. I understand that she's been hurt by the breakup, but at this rate, she's going to get herself fired. Which I supposed wouldn't be a terribly bad thing. Anyway...

Meredith asks Cristina if she meant what she said about whether she and Derek don't belong together. Meredith is hurt that Cristina doesn't think her opinion matters. Cristina's interns are hilarious because they are all very incompetent and take pictures of her impaled with an icicle with their camera phones. Major McHottie takes over and pulls the icicle out.
