Grey's Anatomy: Season 5 Premiere "Dream a Little Dream of Me" Recap (Part 6/6)
As Major McHottie finishes patching up Cristina's wound, she asks him about trauma sugery, which is "quick and dirty." You do what needs to be done. He counsels her that making mistakes is how you learn and that she would make a good trauma surgeon. Richard comes in and offers him a job at Seattle Grace, but Major McHottie declines because he has to go back to Iraq. After Richard leaves, Major McHottie hesitates for a moment before planting a big kiss on Cristina's shocked lips. Woohoo!

Apparently, the experimental freezing procedure worked because Phil can wiggle his toes. Sarabeth also forgives Michael and kisses him. At least some of them have the potential for a happy ending.

Lexie finally grows a pair and asks George about sleeping with Meredith. He explains everything, and Lexie is about to tell him about her feelings. Unfortunately, he shuts her down by saying that she's one of his best friends. Lexie looks disappointed at first, but she might actually be good with being best friends.

Callie approaches Hahn and admits that she's freaking out because she's never kissed a girl before. Well, Hahn hasn't kissed a girl before either. The frosty awkwardness between them finally melts and they agree happily to explore their new relationship together.

Everybody goes home after a long day of stolen traumas. In a touching scene, Meredith brings Cristina home, and tells her that, as her "person," Cristina's support in the MerDer matter is very important. Meredith needs Cristina to believe, or at least pretend to believe, that MerDer has a chance. Cristina agrees, and this is what Meredith needed to hear to get going on the plan to move in with Derek. She goes over to Derek's trailer to help him pack.

At home, Izzie sees Alex making out with a girl, and immediately begins daydreaming that Denny is still alive. In her daydream, she is wearing her prom dress back at the Seattle Grace prom, and Denny is healthy and walking. Awww, Jeffrey Dean Morgan! Nice to see you! Unfortunately, it's just a day dream. In reality, she's alone, and Alex is hooking up with some random girl.

The next day at the hospital, Richard makes an announcement to the whole surgical department about how they can't rest on their laurels. He takes responsibility for the failure of the hospital, and vows to turn the program around. He is officially changing the surgical training protocol, and is raising the standard. I hope this is a metaphor for the show! I hope that this means the show will turn around and become the Grey's Anatomy that we all knew and loved in season 2. I'm looking forward to it!
